TV Shows Canceled Too Soon

This is why I have trust issues.

1.

Firefly (2002-2003)

Fox / Via giphy.com

“A quirky, unique show, masterfully written and run by Joss Whedon in his prime, with an ensemble cast full of people that would go on to be big in their own right—Nathan Fillion, Morena Baccarin, and Alan Tudyk, just to name a few. The fact it never even got a full season but still was able to pull in a movie deal should tell you a lot about its quality.”

2.

Everything Sucks! (2018)

Netflix / Via youtube.com

“I knew it only had one season going in, but I was still sad when it ended. The young actors were all so good and it had amazing lesbian representation!”

—patticake777

3.

High Fidelity (2020)

Hulu / Via youtube.com

“It was so well shot, produced, and edited. The acting was excellent and the storytelling was absolutely brilliant!! I really wanted more of it.”

—moonbl

4.

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (2018-2020)

Netflix / Via giphy.com

“I know this might not be a popular opinion, but I am really sad that this show was canceled. Definitely not a perfect show but it had lots of great parts, and in my humble opinion, was better than Riverdale.”

—starf

5.

Frequency (2016-2017)

The CW / Via whumpslist.tumblr.com

“I’m the only person I know who’s even heard of this show, and that’s such a shame. It was interesting and intriguing from start to finish, and you really wanted the main characters to succeed. The only downside is that it ended on a cliffhanger. It should’ve gotten another season.”

—linn_line

6.

Zoo (2015-2017)

CBS / Via sundouble.tumblr.com

“The first two seasons were absolutely amazing, with each episode packed with something new. I always recommend only watching one episode, because, after that, you’re hooked. The third season was definitely different and a little out there, but had so many twists and turns and was so good. And the cliffhanger it ended on? Are you kidding me?!?”

7.

Red Band Society (2014-2015)

FOX / Via giphy.com

“The American version had an A+ cast and great storylines. The cliffhanger they left was heart-wrenching and the show honestly deserved so much more. I, unfortunately, discovered the show way too late, and it plagues me to this day.”

—jamberry28

8.

The Mick (2017-2018)

FOX / Via giphy.com

“It was canceled after only two seasons on Fox. The show had a unique and refreshing storyline. Kaitlin Olson killed that role and showcased her natural ability to make people laugh until they cry. As a woman, it was nice to watch a comedy show led by three strong, hilarious women. Then Fox canceled it. It deserves so much more recognition. I suggest everyone watch it on Hulu.”

—emsum

9.

United States of Tara (2009-2011)

Showtime / Via vfrenzy.tumblr.com

“The acting was amazing and the story was unlike anything else on TV. The ending was so abrupt, it kind of ruined the show.”

—hazelben

10.

The Secret Circle (2011-2012)

The CW / Via phoebejays.tumblr.com

“I fell in love with the characters, the drama, and the story of Season 1 only for them to leave us on a cliffhanger that would never be resolved!! It was cut horribly short and had so much potential!”

—arianarose114

11.

Bad Judge (2014-2015)

NBC / Via showsincaps.tumblr.com

“I know real judges and lawyers hated it because they felt like the character Rebecca diminished the integrity needed by someone in that profession. But I think it’s similar to how in The Office no boss should actually be like Michael Scott, but he’s still funny and quite frankly, a loveable character. That said, the show was incredibly funny and relatable and I got really invested in Rebecca and Gary’s love story.”

—mercedesd4b0cc1907

12.

Shadowhunters (2016-2019)

Freeform / Via giphy.com

“Sure, they did manage to end the show pretty well, but it had so much more potential that was just wasted. More storylines based on Cassandra Clare’s novels could have been amazing!”

—sophiegski

13.

Chasing Life (2014-2015)

Freeform / Via youtube.com

“It was such a good show but got canceled after two seasons. They rushed through the second season to try and wrap up the story, too.”

—winnieandhamlet

14.

Friends from College (2017-2019)

Netflix / Via youtube.com

“Great cast. Hilarious. Fred Savage was well…savage. I was so bummed to see that one go.”

—kcg0431

16.

People of Earth (2016-2017)

TBS / Via giphy.com

“It deserves to be mentioned. If you’ve never seen it, it was a TBS comedy about a group of abductees (‘experiencers’) and the aliens who abducted them. It was hilarious, well-acted, sweet, and so perfect. TBS canceled it after its second season which ended on a particularly exciting cliffhanger. The third season was written and I will always be sad and pissed that I didn’t get to see it get resolved.”

—cheliemma1

17.

Kidding (2018-2020)

Showtime / Via youtube.com

“It had Jim Carrey and was one of his best performances in years. The storyline was the perfect blend of comedy, sadness, and real life. Just a great show.”

—alexseals12

18.

Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency (2016-2017)

BBC America/ Netflix / Via youtube.com

“The first season was brilliant. It’s been called the unspoilable show because I could tell you the ending right now and it wouldn’t make a lick of sense, you have to watch it to believe it!”

—caruta

19.

Better Off Ted (2009-2010)

ABC / Via youtube.com

“I feel like nobody ever remembers this show, but it was SO funny, and it ended in a really frustrating place in the relationship between some of the characters.”

—smrtblonde77

20.

Siren (2018-2020)

Freeform / Via youtube.com

“It was one of Freeform’s best shows and ended on a HUGE cliffhanger. Now we’ll never know what happens at the end. I’m still angry.”

—stephw45a02c32c

21.

The Mysteries of Laura (2014-2016)

NBC / Via youtube.com

“A perfect ‘will they/won’t they’ detective show that was left on an awful cliffhanger! It was so frustrating!”

—fatimas453c90a40

22.

Dark Matter (2015-2017)

Syfy / Via youtube.com

“I binged it this year via Amazon Prime and was DEVASTATED when it ended on a major cliffhanger. It was such a great show with a lot of familiar themes, but done with innovation and realistic interpersonal relationships. “

—marlad4091234

23.

Stargate Universe (2009-2011)

Syfy / Via youtube.com

“They left off with the largest cliffhanger. I will forever be upset about not finding out what happens to Eli and the rest of the crew. I know they made a comic to sort of finish it off but even that had its problems since it didn’t come out regularly.”

—cassrem

24.

And finally, Hindsight (2015)

VH1 / Via youtube.com

“This show was so good and it ended on such a cliffhanger. VH1 renewed it for a second season and then shut it down right as it was going into production. I wish Netflix had picked it up.”
